Nice course. Exceptionally well-maintained for a public course. Quick, true greens, with challenging breaks. Rough is kept quite short. Lots of dog-legs. Playing from the blues is almost like playing a different course. Easy to walk (not hilly, short distances from greens to tee boxes.) Generally not crowded, but plays slow when full (like all public courses).

I find Glen Ellen to be a plain course. However, I do enjoy playing here mostly because of the greens (fast and true). Overall, it is a run of the mill course. The prices are a bit high, and lately pace of play has been aweful (3:30 for 9 holes 3-weeks ago, 5:30 for 18 last week). The front 9 is more difficult than the back 9 mainly because it is more narrow. On the back 9, you can miss your drive and still par the whole by playing another fairway. Also, try to play the back 9 first. This improves the course in my opinion as you end the front with a par 3, then the last 4 holes would be a par 5,4,3,5. Both par 5's are reachable on the front and make the finishing 4 holes very exciting.

Finally, the grass range and large putting green are huge plusses for the course. The putting green has 20-30 yards of rough so you can practice your long chips.

Overall, it worth playing.
