Okay, I don't usually write scathing reviews, but this one hits the nail on the head.
We arrived for an morning tee time for a party of 3. I needed rental clubs since I had just arrived in for vacation from Germany. The clubs the gave me were like a beat up set of juniors. I am 6'1" & I had a wicked sore back after playing a round with them. I even remarked to the non-challant pro-shop crew that the clubs looked horrible. I wish I was exagerating, but the driver was dented in on the bottom so badly that the club face was distorted.
We played off the first tee box & encountered a sand trap near the bunker. Wait, I should call that a gravel pit! I was unaware that sand had become such a high dollar item that a golf course can no longer afford to fill it's traps with sand, but with yards of fill gravel. I refused to hit, even with the busted up rental clubs, out of the sand traps on this course. Several sand traps were actually filling with water to become swamps, complete with cat-tails, swamp grasses, & lilly pads in one!
They are doing maintenance, if you want to call the guy driving around cutting grass so short that he was exposing dirt on the edges of the fairways, maintenance. The greens were mediocre & the roughs, were so thick, if you landed there, your ball was nearly lost due to the enormous length of the grass.
There was litter around the course to such an extent that we actually picked up some of the trash. Of particular note on either hole 4 or 7, there is a road bridge that crosses a creek. Under this bridge was a good load of litter & garbage, even an old crusty towel that looked like a high schooler might have used this area for a late night session with his girlfriend, complete with used condom beside it. It was disgusting & disturbing being as it looked like it had been there for awhile & no one at the course decided it was worth picking up! We left that one for them for fear of contracting something!
On the bright side, even though the lady who was running the snack bar at the club house wasn't cooking lunch yet, she told us we could call when we were about to tee off on 18 & she'd have our lunch ready for us when we got back to the snack bar. We opted to pass on lunch.
Of particular note was that with the course in such horrible shape they were still charging full price & even cancelled their military discounted rate that was advertised on their website.
Sorry, this course will never be played by me or my friends again.
