The Private is much longer, and has a great variety of holes (best known for the island green par 3 14th hole). The course conditioning is pretty poor -- fairway grass is uneven, weedy & sandtraps are poorly maintained (rocks, few if no rakes, hard). If maintained well this could be one of the best publicly accessible courses in the Capital District. Each hole is unique, lots of elevation changes, with good length (The par 5 4th hole is close to 550yds from the whites). Could be a very challenging course. The homeward three holes are a good example. From the whites, #16 is a 547 yd par 5 that tees off from an elevated tee. It has a big green guarded by one bunker that is rarely reachable in two. #17 is a long par 4 (410 yds) with a slight dogleg left. #18 is a longer par 4 (434 yds) dogleg right. You have to drive it at least 250 yds to have any look at the green for your 2nd shot.

As I am working to get back into playing golf this course works for me. I can imagine that for more experienced golfers this place would be a let down. I played in November and the curse was if pretty good shape as the fairways and greens looked good and the bunkers where freshly graded. Greens are small which for me lead to the difficulty of this course.

I really don't understand why anyone would want to play this course. The condition of the course is absolutely atrocious, the fairways are choked with daisy's and dandelions, to the point where you cannot differentiate between rough and fairway. Every bunker I saw was overrun with weeds, and there wasn't one memorable hole on the entire property. The greens while small and completely unprotected, generally speaking ran well and putted true.
