Good Cause, fairways and greens in great condition, a bit of GUR around the place, once it grows out it should be even better. Wind is a great challenge on this course. Greens have a lot of undulations. Tee'd off at 7.30 on a Sunday was finished by 11.30 good rate of play!

Top 3 option for NYC golfers. Pretty easy layout but better pace of play than others in the area.

Everything is relative in NYC. But for NYC, this a great value, decent pace of play (vs. some other NYC courses where rounds can be 6 hours or more) with good accomodations -- range, practice green, nice clubhouse etc. Highly recommended for NYC golf.

This is a great value for NY state golfers. The greens are exceptional...really! If you are tired of playing greens (both public and private) in the NY/LI area that are not trimmed and rolled consistently, then you must give MPGC a try. They roll true, with multiple undulations and small variations, posing a true challenge.
As for the layout, fairways, and rough there is much to be desired. There really is NO rough, except for a few sporadic patches of fescue.
If you are looking for a moderately challenging links style round this is a great place to find it.

This course is long, wide open, windy, always challenging greens. Getting to the green is only half the battle here. This used to be my home course over 15 yrs ago and the improvements are exceptional. Water on #9, and an irons only driving range, when was that put in? Nice additions. Not a good value for out-of-state residents.

every year the course improves, the greens are still the best around the city, a very good practice area, the fairways are better but still need to improve.

Located just off Flatbush Avenue and the Belt Parkway, Marine Park is better than you would probably expect for a muni course in a crappy part of Brooklyn. To its credit, it has length, challenging winds, greens that require proper game , a view of the empire state building, and some interesting design features (it is a Robert Trent Jones design). Pretty good short game practice areas too.
For me thouhg the layout is rough and ultimately uninspiring. There are hardly any trees to provide shade or shelter from the sun and persistent winds. The course is so wide open and quite a few holes lack shape and character, which made rounds kind of grind after a while. I always feel worn out after a round here.
There are a few very good golf holes though. #4 and 7 are nice short par 4's with tough approach shot. #9 is a real challenging tee shot, the approach is no bargain either.
My least favorite hole is #14, which runs alongside and provides an unobstructed view of Flatbush Avenue.
For NYC golfers, its pretty accessible by mass transit. If you're curious and don't have a lot of choice, it's worth checking out. It's no mickey mouse layout, its big boy golf, it will test your game for sure.
