The first nine at Heritage Links has a rolling, links-y feel with water occasionally in play, while the second nine is more wooded and lined with water, bunkers and great elevation changes. Overall, 45 bunkers dot the course and water comes into play on 16 of 18 holes. No 9-hole tee-times are available before 3 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

Heritage Links is located three miles west of Interstate 35 on County Road 70.

like the risk reward holes. if it's wet, best to stay away. else it's a very nice tract

I play Heritage Links 2 or 3 times a year. The course is always in great condition. I like the layout of this course with one exception, too many blind shots. It causes a couple of problems. First is, you think you hit a good shot until you walk over the next hill and see you've hit it into a hazard or into a bunker or into the rough. The bigger problem is blind shots slow down the pace of play. You can't see where your ball landed so it takes longer to locate it. This becomes a real problem when the course is full. Everyone is spending more time looking for their balls. I try to avoid the busy times on this course because of this issue.

When I played this course, it was in impeccable shape. The greens were fast, soft, and true. The fairways were very neatly manicured. I didn't see a single brown spot anyplace that would not have been marked a hazard. My only complaint was a bridge on the back nine that didn't look entirely safe. It was a long bridge over a forced carry. But my favorite part about this course was the number of risk/reward holes. There were numerous holes with a stream bisecting the fairway where you really have to make a decision on whether to go for it or lay up.
