Have tried to use the Oob app at several different courses around town and I have noticed that it doesn't change distances when you change tee boxes.
For example, I played 36 at the same course last weekend. 1st round from the blues, no problem. Second round from the whites, big problem. Showing the same distances from either tee.
Also, 1 hole is a 400 yd. par 4. Oob showed it as an 800 yd hole. It had combined 2 holes together.
I guess that's what you get when you use Google earth that has data from 5 years ago.....shows things that aren't even there anymore!!!

What app are you using, iPhone or Android? The yardage in the grey/blue bar of the app is the one pulled form the scorecard and should change based on tee selection. The GPS rangefinder yardages will not change based on tee selection as these are based on your current location. Not sure what you mean by data from Google Earth.

Using iPhone 4. What I mean by Google Earth data is that when you look at the layout of the course, it shows what the course looked like years ago. On one course it shows the temporary clubhouse that has been gone for 3 years now. I know that Google Earth doesn't update it's satellite images often so I figured that's why the old images.

Yes Google Satellite images can be out of date. However our map data is not based on them and thus the yardage numbers should still be correct even if the underlying image is not.

Can you confirm that the grey/blue bar is showing correct yardages based on tee selection? The other yardages will all be based on your current location when on the course.

Yes, the grey/blue bar is showing correct yardages based upon differing tee box selections.

So that's good...

However, looks like I will be playing a course tomorrow at Copper Mill in Zachary, LA.
I go to use the GPS to check out the course and the images must be at least 5 years out of date. Shows the course still under construction. No greens, traps or fairways.....just all dirt. So what good is that???

Yes that is the problem with satellite imagery. It is one reason that we use course maps generated on the ground vs via the satellite imagery, as our competitors do. For courses with outdated satellite imagery the green view yardages should work perfect. The hole view screen probably will not be very useful.
