I enter scores for a group of UK golfers and we have all set ourselves a target to improve our handicaps this year. As there is money/pride on this it matters!

We have all set our Oobgolf profile to calculate CONGU handicap but it does not seem to be moving even though we think it should.

Our understanding was that CONGU only accepts a score of 2 over par on any one hole and then drops the handicap for any shot under the total of par + current handicap. However last week one of our group recorded an adjusted score of 95 (24 over) and is currently off 28 so we expected him to go to 26.4 (28 - 4 x 0.4). But he hasn't moved?

Should he have moved?

Many thanks

Your math looks correct at first glance. Can you link the actual score in question.

Sean has only entered a few scores but his handicap does not seem to shift. Is the maths wrong?

He went "off the rails" on 3 holes where he scored 24 in total but CONGU wouold adjust that to 18

I think everything looks correct. I believe this is his best score: http://www.oobgolf.com/golfers/score.php?id=1417096 and it still only comes out to a net of 29. His handicap hasn't adjusted because the max handicap is 28 and I don't believe that he has a score with a better net than that.

The only incorrect assumption from your first post is that the max score in CONGU is NOT double bogey. It is actually "Double Net Bogey". Which is par + 2 + strokes alloted for that hole based on your previous handicap. This calculation shows for any score as the "Hole Adjustment" row on the scorecard.

Ah ha - Double Net Bogey not Double Bogey!

Interestingly some web sites make this clear and others do not!

Many thanks for your help
