Hi, I am going to get fitted new clubs. Any suggestions on the best place to go.
The ones I am thinking about are Golfsmith, Edwin Watts and Golf Galaxy, all in Orlando.
Any personal experiences and advice appreciated.
Thanks. javascript:emoticon(' ')

I live in Houston and have access to all of the shops you just mentioned. My best fitting experience was at Edwin Watts. They fit me in two drivers that were about the same and I couldn't decide which one I liked better, so they loaned me a demo club of each for a week. I went to the range and hit both, and played a couple of rounds and made my decision. No extra cost for the loaners.

Never been to any but a golf galaxy. I can't say i had a SUPER great experience getting fit, but i can say they don't leave you wanting for anything. They have just about anything you could want in all configurations. One thing i didn't like is nomatter what i wanted they tried to upsell me onto something, so have an idea of what you want to spend and stick to it.

my only problem with golf galaxy and golfsmith is that unless you get lucky and get a really knowledgeable salesperson, you really have to know what your options are if you want a custom fit. At Edwin Watts, they showed me several different shaft options with both drivers that I demo'd that weren't available off the shelf. Several of the shafts were available for no extra charge, but you just had to wait a couple days for it to be built and shipped from the factory. Maybe the guys at my Edwin Watts are just rock stars, but I've always had a good experience there, not always at the other places. At them it's usually just, "here's what is new and on the hot list this year, it totally goes 15 yards farther and the last one."

We only have Golf Galaxy where I am. The people there are friendly, but I never get the feeling that they really know their stuff. More often than not, when I ask questions about a particular club in which I have interest, the salespeople seem to have less knowledge about it than I do. However, their on-staff PGA pro seems to do a good job with fittings. I have not been fit by him, but I know others who have. So, before being fit at any of the places you mention, I would seek out the pro and converse with him a bit. Find out about how the fitting goes and what to expect. Tell him YOUR expectations, then make an appointment with HIM. Not a sales guy who has been "trained" to do the fitting. Also, if you can get a demo club or clubs with the recommended shaft, as Kingwood suggests, that would be ideal. Doubt Golf Galaxy will do that for you. If Edwin Watts will, I'd be fit with them.

Golf Galaxy guys wouldn't recommend the shaft, other than maybe the pro. I was just there getting re-tweaked for my clubs and ball like i do every year, and i wanted to just get a shaft for my dad based on his numbers. I told the guy and he sat there for 30 minutes trying to sell him on a new Burner Superfast 2.0. Really? We both told him no like 5 times and finally he gave up and did my fitting.
