Remember when Vijay was winning everything? I miss those days. It's too bad the guy can't putt or else you'd probably see him contend more. I always liked when he'd hit a shot, then lean all over the place like he'd sliced it off the planet, only to have the ball end up tight? Who does that?

Seriously, this guy is one of the greats. He comes from a speck of an island in the South Pacific and learned golf by hitting macadamia nuts with a bamboo stick and studying an old photo of Tom Weiskopf that happened to wash up on the shore one day. At least that's how I imagine it. The media always portrayed him as an ornery dud but I think that's because Vijay Singh never really had time for them or cared about playing the star game. Maybe thats because he got roasted for his remarks about Annika. But anytime I've seen him do a clinic or something casual he comes off as a fun guy who just wants to play golf and bust balls with his buddies and happened to reach the apex of the sport.

When the guy won like nine times in 2004 and ousted Tiger from #1 it was a triumph of gritty hard work. Substance over style. I know it wasn't too many years ago, but it seems like a bygone era in golf, a simpler time, before everyone became an asshole.

I miss those guys too. especially Vijay. Saw him in person one time at the AT&T national. He's skinnier than he looks on TV. Actually most of the guys are, but still - he was a genuinely nice guy and i do miss seeing him in contention.

On another note, i plan to make it to the tour one day and i will make it a point to be less asshole-ish than most. Smile haha

Well today the big guy flashed some game and shoot 65 to finish T4 at Greensboro. I'm going to the Barclays next saturday and dammit Vijay--please make the cut.
