Nice job, Bryan, looks like this is going to be a good year for your game.

It has been a great start. If I can keep hitting my driver as well as I've been hitting it and add my newfound comfort zone that I've discovered with my wedges, it's going to be a fun year. I still gotta improve the GIR's, though.

Nice to see someone's getting a nice start to the season. I have only played a few 9 hole rounds since courses opened for in-season play a few weeks ago. Seem to be going along a bit below average until a few awful swings cost me multiple strokes. Had back to back 8s, I should go all year without making any 8s. Gotta put some work in on consistency with the longer clubs before it gets too out of hand!

7 over 78 today. Decent round of golf, tough day out on the course. lot of distractions. Fairly solid play in some lame ass conditions. Beat my handicap, beat my GIR average, but its still not enough. I need more, the appetite for improving golf is ravenous, insatiable. Give it to me.

Pivotal moment: #15, long nasty hooking birdie putt downhill. I hit it way too hard, it was headed off the false front of the green...it crashed in the hole. Holy crap, just saved at least two strokes in one swoop. Changed my whole out look on the remaining three holes. thank god--I was starting to fade.

Highlight moment: 14th hole, pulled it into some tree trouble. only about 118 left in but with a tree blocking the airspace of a normal wedge. Could either play under it, or hook it around, about 15 yards. Thinking about Bubba Watson, I went for the hook and I managed to pull it off, it even danced a little once it hit the green too. WOW is all I can really say, one of the best shots I ever saw.

Today I shot even par 70 at king`s ridge, just can`t seem to shoot an under par round. At the par 3 14th hole, I hit a 5 iron tee shot that rolled up on a direct line to the cup, but it BOUNCED over the cup! Stil made the birdie, then went on to birdie 15 and 18.

First official Handicap round of the year, also first time on real greens since January 7 of this year. While the home course is still greens under repair, took the game over to another course. Shot a slightly aggravating 89. First, the greens on this course are all crowned so they have always been tough for me to read. Today though was weird because we haven't had greens on our course and these were like carpets which had me very intimidated, couldn' settle on a pace, four 3 putts and one 4 putt (who 4 putts!). other than that, great day to be out. 7 of 12 fairways and only one drive badly offline. Early yet. After we went to the home course, so my son could test out his new 3 WD, played 7 of 9 didn't keep any scores.

Didn't you know that after age 60 3-irons are illegal? Wink

Brian...Thats why I switched to all hybrid iron set. It worked wonders for me. Don't have enough swing speed for conventional iron.

Brian..Thanks for the gentle compliment about players over the age of 60. Thats so far back that I can hardly remember 60. One of the great joys of playing golf is the ability to compete within a age bracket of your peers. Somebody told me the other day that 80 is today's 60 but sometimes it's hard to get your body to understand the theory

I shot a 105 yesterday at the areas alleged "premiere golfing facility", the Oxbow Country Club. I had three puttitis, taking three putts on all but one hole on the back nine (and on 10 holes overall). Couple that with the fact that I just couldn't buy a break (all of my near misses found bunkers), and my score wasn't really that great of a reflection on how well I played.

My biggest upsetting moment of the day was when I chipped from about 30 yards out to a short-side pin to within three feet and then couldn't sink the putt.

But the biggest accomplishment is that I scored two birdies in three holes on the front nine, which is the first time in my life that I have scored two birdies on a single nine. And I had to sink a 40' putt for the second one.

Went out on Saturday and played 36 holes to try and get ahead of the rain. I played the first 18 at Berkleigh and shot 86. Just played poorly. Had a serious alignment issue that i didn't notice or resolve until the 2nd 18 at Bethlehem. I just thought i was swinging badly. My approaches on the first round suffered greatly because of it.Good distance, but a lot missed to the left. Also I didn't hit much more than half the fairways, but i didn't miss hard so i'm still happy with my tee ball. I didn't measure a lot of them, but i'd say i'm comfortably averaging around 275 on my off days.

At Bethlehem i shot 74. Same number of putts, but my alignment was spot on for the vast majority of shots. I was destroying the ball and was averaging 291 off the tee. average. Checked every one via gps. The greens were punched a few weeks ago and were still bumpy and i know i could have gone at least 2 strokes lower. A couple short putts bounced hard offline even though i hit them firmly. I also nearly holed my approach on 13 with my 54* wedge. I also hit driver, PW into the following par 5 for an easy two putt birdie. drive of 358. no chicks with us to dig the longball though Sad just two older guys. They were nice guys too. It's worth noting that i got paired with a twosome at each course and all 4 had awesome personalities and made both rounds extremely enjoyable. Smile

highlights of the day, figured out my mental putting things so now i can concentrate on stroke and roll. I also realized just how long i really am getting. I'm starting to get that tour distance WITH control. Something i never had. once i realized what was wrong with the alignment (how and when to diagnose) and how to fix it, i was placing balls in the fairway. I'm ready for my "day before the wedding" outing. Smile not really competition, but i'm so ready to break 80 at Morgan Hill chip tees. It's my unicorn.
