Shot a disappointing 89 in tournament Saturday. It's very frustrating to suddenly mid round loose the swing so to speak. Went a few holes just not able to properly hit the ball. Very random, like great drive one hole and either smother hook, top, slice etc the next. It's mostly driving which is giving me fits. But it could have been better all the way around.

Great golf course though, Davis Love III design. First time there and sure would like to play it again.

I shot a 9 on the first hole the other day at a new course (par 34). I ended up salvaging a 42 on the round. Just about had my second eagle of the summer, too.

But it's been too ridiculously humid to play this summer. It's ridiculous. Heat index is over 100 every day. The air is literally wet. Every time I go outside, my glasses fog up. Low last night was 86 with a dew point of 81. I need to move someplace dry.

It is too hot to play. I tried yesterday. Between the heat humidity and all the halftards playing at their sloth's pace its just not worth all the sweat and delirium. I mean the ball is flying pretty far these days which is nice, but its still not worth it.

Every golf course designer wants you to walk off the course saying "that was fun, I'd like to play it again" rather than this course sucks. Go back and you will have a better idea on how to play it and you will do much better.

40/48 - tournament play (par 71). Lost control of the putter on the back, I guess. Two blow up holes (penalties), one triple on the front nine and one quad bogey on the back...

I'm pretty happy with some of my game today but really flushed it away on the back. How awesome.

Shot an ok round yesterday... should have shot my best score, but CHOKED

42/43.

I doubled 15 after lying 2 30 yards from the green on a par 5, terrible.

Hit 1 ob on 18, the next one barely stayed in, after a good day driving, i can't believe I threw away 5 strokes in 4 holes to tie my best score.

Growl... one day I'll smash it Smile
3 x 3 putts and the OB not bad to tie my best score.

nice round g.p. finishing poorly sucks, though- i'd rather get the blow up hole earlier in the round rather than have that sour taste fresh in my mouth as i walk off the course.

Thanks, appreciate the comments.

My sinus headache doesn't hurt for the first 2-3 hours of my day, so by that stage i was worrying about my head exploding, let alone the golf... then my truck was dead and had to jump it, so sour for more reasons than I wanted for sure, but still.

I feel good knowing i can hit my best any round now, and my handicap has already gone from 17.8 to 15.6 in the last month so I'm good.

Going to play the local City Amateur in a few weeks, so maybe save the good rounds for that (fingers crossed)

You'll get an overly long ranty report when i do Smile

My foursome took second in a four man scramble on Saturday to celebrate New Salem, ND's Cow Town Hoe-Down. It was a pretty good tourney. We actually had the best overall score, but we lost due to the handicapping by less than a stroke. We also had a bogey. That bogey cost us.

Our final score was -10. Of our group, I was the one hitting my driver most consistently, and we also ended up using most of my chips. I was the highest handicap. Bruce was the one sinking all of our putts, Dave was hitting on all of his approach shots, and then there was Tad. He was our lowest handicap, about a 4, and he just had a terrible day. He had a shot here and a shot there that were good, but I think we had maybe used three of his shots on the first 16 holes. Then on the second to last hole, he hit a 275 yard drive, put his 200 yard approach next to the hole, and sunk the five footer for eagle all by himself. That eagle was the difference between fourth place and second place.

Well...if anyone ever plays the course in New Salem (which is probably pretty unlikely), remember that all of the greens break away from the cow.

By "the cow", I mean the giant holstein (64 feet tall) on the hill next to the golf course. Whoever installed those greens was an absolute genius. They all look like they break towards the cow. But the entire course is on the side of the hill. They actually tried to make the greens as level as possible, but the result is that they all look severely sloped.

This course needs to be a stop on the PGA Tour, so that we can hear the announcers explain on every hole that the putt breaks away from the holstein. I can just hear Feherty now...

Yeah...the best part about it is that it takes a few holes for even the most astute observer (like me) to realize what is going on. When I was initially told that the cow was all-powerful, and all putts break away, my response was "yeah, right". It took me four holes to understand why that was happening. The next day, I golfed the course with my nephew. I don't think he got it even after nine.
