Yeah, I've learned how important it is to stay hydrated during the summer even on the cool days. When I know I'm going to be out in the heat, I start drinking the night before to get myself all ready to go.

When I was younger, I played in a lot of softball tournaments. We'd be out in the 100+ heat for 8-10 hours a day playing softball, and by the end of those days, games would be determine more by who was more prepared. When I knew one of those tourneys were coming up, I'd start hydrating a few days in advance. Í'd start the day out sluggish due to all of the extra fluids in my body, but I'd still be going strong at the 10:00 PM finish.

I have been using Glaceau Vitamin Water with a slight lemon flavor. I tried Gatorade but most are a little too acidic for my stomach.Its a little high in calories (120) but I only use 1 bottle in 18 holes while I drink 2 or 3 big cups of plain water as well. Seems to be working fine.

We are in the middle of our monsoon season in Phoenix with heavy rains, blowing winds and sand storms called Haboob's. The dust creates a moving wall of dust that makes driving impossible and can create all kinds of health problems for people with any breathing issues. Temperatures are 10 to 12 degrees lower which is a relief from our horrible summer heat but humidity rises.I feel sorry for the parts of the country that are in a drought condition. Much of what you are going through is like our normal summer. Hot, hotter and O My God!

I got to experience a haboob when I was in Phoenix earlier this month. I woke up the next morning feeling like I was back in Fargo.

Very interesting, though. For about ten minutes, I couldn't see the bank sign on the other side of the street from my hotel window.

I"m trying out a product call Sweat Block. I'm hoping it will help me be able to stand the humidity a bit better. This summer has been the most humid I ever remember. The past few days have been better, but heat indices still hover around 100 every day. I hate being completely drenched by the third hole.

It's not that bad. I've been in the Gulf States during the summer. It's not any worse there than it is up here at the bottom of the ancient lake bed. The only difference is that you guys get it for three months straight while we have a few cooler days in between here and there. I think it's the smell from the Gulf that makes it seem worse.

Keep in mind that when I say "drenched", I mean that you could literally fill an ice cream pail with sweat by wringing out my shirt.

I believe Moorhead, MN holds the heat index record for the United States at 139*.

I made the decision at 5:00 to not hit the course today after work because the line of thunderstorms heading towards the area looked pretty severe. And then I watched for an hour as the storm split up and went north and south of town. I was getting pretty dismayed. And then the tornado sirens started at about 6:15. I'm pretty glad I decided to go home instead.

getting into the mid to upper 90's here in So Cal. There's no humidity to contend with and the afternoon rounds are faster since most people don't want to brave the heat. gonna try to play weekly Tues twilight rounds for as long as I can before daylight saving time hits.

Temperatures finally are rising to a nice 75 this weekend. No rain anymore, it'll be nice to play club championship qualification on Saturday and another charity competition on Sunday!
