Is this thread still alive? Than strike senygma's golfcard from the list, version 2.0 and later no longer uses oobgolf - it switched to ushandicap.com.

GolfTraxx is offering an Android version in Android Market that makes it much easier to see the mapped courses in the database.
Also, GolfTraxx does offer user mapping on their website. Users mapped 2000 courses this past month.
We are looking into adding the oob APIs to our website.
Happy Golfing!

Thanks for the updates!
Jev,
Thanks for the heads up on GolfCard. I don't use GolfCard and wasn't aware they ended integration support with oob. From what I've read, GolfCard seemed/seems to be a nice app. It's a shame they dropped oob. I've looked around a bit and came across this post in the droidforums. Undoubtedly, this has upset some oob/golfcard users and with good reason.
I was also unaware that oob is now in the process of developing its own mobile app, which is great! It was mentioned in the droidforum post and I looked around oob and sure enough, there was an official announcement I had missed from oob about both the golfcard update and the oob app. There has since been another update about the oob app. I can't wait for it to be released, especially since it will allow for scoring multiple golfers, which their current mobile site does not.
Frank,
Thanks for the update on GolfTraxx. I went ahead and put a "coming soon" for the oob integration in hopes that it works out. Please post back with an update either way. I've been really impressed from what I've seen about the newer droid devices.

An oob native application could be great! Hopefully it will have an interface that is as easy to use as golfcard because that's one of the caveats with most contenders in my opinion. Most smartphones have relatively small touchscreens that are not very precise (or my fingers are too large ). Not a good thing for small buttons and keyboards for entering scoredata!
The one thing I did like about golfcard 2.0 is the improved rangefinder. One can rather easily create schematic hole overviews like the ones used in real scoresaver booklets. Looks very clean and usable even when the sun is blazing LCD contrasts away. The pictures in Google maps often just don't have enough contrast and are obscured by trees and such.

Hey Frank, how about support for the rest of the world outside the US?

Hi Jev,
Not sure when the last time you visited our website was...we actually have courses in over 50 countries around the world and have supported courses from other countries for years. Please check it out:
http://golftraxx.com/courses.htm
You can search by postal code, or select the desired country from the country dropdown to see the courses we have in that country.
Happy golfing!

Really? I just downloaded the mobile app for Android, installed it and tried to find any courses in the Netherlands. Note that it is rather unusual to use the postal codes for searching here but the system just didn't find any. Does is search for nearby postcodes or do they need to be exact? The latter is not usable here.
Thanks for looking into this!

Jev,
Did you happen to go to the golftraxx search page?
Did you select the Netherlands from the dropdown list of countries?
The link below is what I saw when I did that:
http://www.golftraxx.com/view_golfcourses_by_zipcode2.php?zipcode=NETHERL
If you enter any of those postal codes for the courses shown on that page (or enter the first 7 characters of the country name in upper case (for example CANADA) into your device, it will provide a list of courses in that country so that you can download them to your device.

Just thought I'd add that nRange now has a scorecard built into the app. I still use the mobile.oobgolf.com site, though.

Ah, that is the trick! I tried inputting the complete "Netherlands", that didn't work. "NETHERL" did actually bring up a list of courses.
Thanks for explaining that! It would be good to add that to the description of the app in the market I guess.
More questions: why do you need to enter e-mail addresses or "GHIN" (whatever that may be?) for players?
I think your app is very basic and needs some work for it to be a winner but it has potential!

@fjdb3: Out of curiosity, what's your usual process on accepting a user mapped course and making it available for download for GolfTraxx users? I'm trying out the Android app now and mapped 2 of my local courses (that I plan on playing this week) that didn't have GPS coordinates previously.
Thanks for what so far looks like a good app!

Thanks bjohn13, I updated nRange in the list.
I went to their site and just quickly looked around but I didn't see any mention of the scorecard addition in their list of features or anywhere else. You would think that would be a good feature to make sure potential customers knew about. I might have overlooked it though.

I can confirm nrange does indeed have a scorecard now, however...
This is for the BB users. It is still very much in Beta. Needs alot of work IMO. I was quite honestly disappointed with it considered their GPS maps were top rate compared to others I have used.
We'll see how it works out, but the scorecard isn't that great at the moment. Their GPS is still a top app for the BB though.
And btw Chris, they have an Android version now also, it's marked as "coming" now I think on your list.

Thanks, I changed it.
Yeah, I noticed ealier today for nRange I had "Yes" for Android and I think I had "Coming soon" for iPhone. But while I was browsing their site about the scorecard addition, I noticed on their Try Now page they had downloads for BB and iPhone and it says "Coming Soon" for Android Market. So I changed the list to reflect that. But I just went back and I do see a link on the left for Free Download for Android.
Thanks again for the notice.

Hi Dave,
We are currently adding courses like crazy (well over 1,000 in the last 2 weeks), and we are making every effort to get courses submitted by users added within a week.
If you don't see your added, just give us a reminder...we're doing our very best to get them all added.
