Hello,
I have played Golf for many of years and have tryed many things to correct my horrible slice of the tee. Nothing seems to work. My slice is rediculous and this summer I plan on Golfing alot more then normal so I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get rid of a nasty slice. I am a righty and people I golf with get scared cuase I aim so far left when I tee off just to get the ball to land in the fairways. The problem there is A: About 5% of my Drives actually go strait(Fourt). B: Trees on the left can be a problem when there hugging the Tee Off Area. C: Biggest Concern, I'm losing a crap load of distance on my Drives. Tryed Squaring my Feet, closing the face of my driver. Grib experiments, diffrent tees, balls, even clubs. Nothing seems to work. Please help me out. Every other part of my game is pretty good. Help could easily shave 10 strokes of my game. Thanks In advance.

the most common cause of a slice is an outside-inside swing. there are drills and tips which i am in no way qualified to comment on without at least seeing it. but you should make a video of yourself (looking down the target line) and see if you are coming over the top of the ball.
and of course, get a lesson with someone you trust.

I'd recommend getting the Inside-Out swing trainer from Target. That is a harsh but effective way of changing your swing path to help eliminate the slice. Another thing you can do is try to intentionally hook balls at the range. That will help you get the feel of turning your hands over

If you are paying money for all of that stuff, maybe it's time to hit up the next step and get some lessons. If you do I highly recommend somewhere that has video included.
If you aren't ready to go there yet, take a video yourself to the range with you and record yourself from behind and then straight across and post on youtube for everyone on here to look at and help ya with.

Move the ball back in your stance. Center of your feet instead of off your left heel.

I have to concur with the comments about getting some lessons. On April 23 I had a hcp index of 16.2 and took a one hour lesson on my major complaint of inconsistency of my shots, hooks, slices, fat, thin and occasionally long and straight. Today, not 20 days later my hcp index is at 14.8. The main point of the lesson was about proper rotation around my core and stopping my hips/core from sliding back and through the shot. Before the lesson I had trouble breaking 90 now 90 feels like a ceiling I occasionally bump against.
Best of luck.

The two biggest things that helped me were dropping my right shoulder to make sure I wasn't setting up with them open and then making sure the butt of the club pointed at the ball on the downswing. I was "casting" from the top and coming outside-in. If you pull the grip into the ball at least you will be on plane and it will also put you in the slot for more power. I also agree with going to the range and trying to hit them right to left. Anywhere left. That will help with the feel.
I don't know if it will cut 10 strokes, but I definitely put another 40-50 yards on my tee shots.

When i start to slice off the tee it's because I'm trying to swing too hard and the club head is lagging behind my hips leaving the face open. Once I really slow down I tend to straighten out. At times I'll strengthen my grip(close the face) in order to force a solid hit but this isn't a good long term fix.

1) Make sure you are not coming over the top. This could be from the top of your backswing, because you are straightening your wrists too soon (casting), or not transferring your weight to your left side on the downswing. Basically take a video down the line and run a line from the ball to your shoulder, this should be your swing plane, or a lesson to see if you are on the correct plane. If you swing plane is good and you still slice:
2) Check to make sure you are rotating your wrists correctly. If you come through with your hands under the club, you will come through with the face open and it will cause a slice, even if your swing plane is perfect. This has been my problem for a long time. A good drill for this is to do half swings and make sure your left hand is on top on the backswing and right hand is on top on the followthrough. Try to hook the ball at the range by over rotating your wrists, then back it off until the ball goes straight, get the feel for this wrist release, and if you are on plane, your shots should definitely straighten out.
Also, my advice to everyone, take a lesson or 3

I agree that finding a golf pro that you can work with is the very best option.
To fix an outside in swing, place a two foot 2x4 next to the ball and parallel to the target line about 1.5" from the ball. You'll hit the 2x4 if you swing outside in. You can use your driver cover for the same thing, but I find the 2x4 gives much "better" feedback.
I've always struggled with a push/slice combo. Last season I "fixed" my slice by always swinging out of my shoes. This works because:
a) I always make pretty good contact.
b) When you swing hard you tend to pull the ball.
c) Swinging hard helped me release my hands.
My swing thought was "Swing really hard and hit the inside of the ball". Usually it went straight (and very far to boot!). My misses were straight pushes, not push slices.
Now I'm working on swinging to a balanced finish and not so hard. My swing thought is on a smooth, even tempo swing with as much relaxation as possible in my hands. This keeps me on-plane and my hands release naturally. I lose about 10-20 yds but end up with a nice draw.

ok, don't laugh. I've always had a slice off the tee. Mostly because I have an outside inside swing which no matter what I've done I can't get rid of it...until now. As odd as it sounds, I found my fix on Youtube There is a canadian club pro that has posted quite a few videos on youtube and of all the videos I've seen there, this guy's explanations are the easiest to follow. If you watch this video, he'll talk about how a lot of slicers tend to line up incorrectly with their body towards the ball and their feet towards the target. His fix is to set up the ball as you normally would depending on the club you are using, but to line up the club head in the middle of your stance...so when using your driver with the ball off your left heel, you are starting your drive with the clubhead in the middle of your stance. It takes some getting used to but my drives are definitely going straighter with less slicing. Here is link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u68RZjdnVMs Here is a link to his website with all of the different videos he's posted: http://web.mac.com/shawnclement/Site/You_Tube_Shawn.html so...don't laugh at me until you (fellow slicers) have looked at this video and tried it out on the range or course. Hope it helps!

hiiiii
I have been playing golf just about 3 month, and i used to slice with driver (taylormade r580xd 9,5* stiff flex). Then i change my driver to Bobby Jones 10,5* reg flex, and it gives me the best driving ever, its always straight and easy to control. Maybe you could try it.. Hope this help.
