MM, sounds like you might be letting lousy conditions get to you. The toughest part of this game is between our ears.

Try this. Hood the club a fraction, shorten your swing and use more club. In other words play a knockdown shot. Should help catch ball first.

Greens are a crap shoot right now. Try to 2 putt everything.

So far, have played 4 days in a row in Florida, on vacation. The first I played with my wife and didn't really keep score, but rather worked with her since she hasn't played in a year. The next three were all with an old golf buddy of mine. The courses were new to us and I couldn't score to save my butt. Neither could my buddy. We are both pretty decent golfers and neither of us came close to a decent score (for us). I won't tell you his, cause I'm sure he won't appreciate it (he's also an Oob member). Mine were all 10+ strokes higher than my average.

Lack of local knowledge, plus an excessive number of penalty strokes, coupled with an inconsistency of green speeds and, more importantly, an inconsistency off the tee and pretty much all other aspects of my game, resulted in some pretty pitiful results...so far. Still have a few more rounds to play, so hope to turn it around. Man, it's tough playing new courses. But, hey, I'm playing golf in near perfect weather in Florida, so, I'll take what I can get. The alternative is Connecticut golf in February. No fun.

I believe you need to use a third party image hosting site. You upload your image to the site, and then you post the url with the "img" tags (you can click the button above).

Um...the trees are all under the snow....

Ha..just kidding. Truth is, we don't get much snow around here. We average 30-40 inches a year. It's just too dang cold to snow for most of the winter. But that means that the snow we DO get doesn't go anywhere.

I fully intend to play it one of these days and be the first to post a score on OOB. I may need to wear a balaclava so as not to breathe in the mineral dust.

Interestingly, Trona High School also has the only dirt football field in the continental U.S.

There was an article on Trona in one of the golf magazines a few years ago. The author was hell bent on finding conditions that were unenjoyable to golf in. He played Trona in the 120 degree heat and lived to tell about it.

gpicken -- cool pics. I know it's a wide angle photo, but that green on the 2nd photo appears 4 times the size of the greens on my home course. Looks nice.

The side effect of playing on small greens - on one hand you have to be accurate with the approaches but when I go to course with large greens the putting stats go up!

it was a par 5 - the 2nd pic... so those are usually bigger... well sometimes.

i agree... sometimes you need a 9i to reach the hole.... but counts as a putt huh
