I thought I would start a forum where we can put/find quotes that inspire, challenge, teach or make us laugh about this game we play. I like to read and I come across many thoughts I would like for future reference. Feel free to post any quote you like relating to our game. This way when we need a quote, we can find them in this forum topic.

I'll start with this one about confidence:

Not a golf quote but one I have always liked. I try to remind myself of Theodore Roosevelt's idea that striving and failing is better than sitting on the sidelines in those times when I fail in an endeavor, be it a project at work or a golf tournament.

The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena; whose face is marred by sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotion, spends himself in a worthy cause; who at best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement; and who at worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who have never tasted victory or defeat.

No doubt this is a great quote and applicable to Golf endeavors...

Not a famous quote or even a great one, but this is something I remember nearly every time I'm on the course:

Toward the end of a bad round, I hit one really good shot. I said aloud, "Why couldn't I have done that earlier?"

My playing partner responded, "Do you really think you're the first golfer to ask that question?"

Some guy I was playing with.It is excellent advise.I have followed it ever since.When I cannot reach the green but want to get distance I use my 20deg hybrid.
