With that thread title, this really could be about a number of things, but it's actually about golf balls.

Since I started playing, I've used softer golf balls. Generally I've played with Noodles (Soft & Long and Softest), Nike Mojo, the D2 Feel and sometimes the Slazenger Feel ball.

My favorite ball is the Callaway Diablo HX Tour, which I buy for special occasions. I just love the way that ball feels off of the club. Some months ago, however, my wife's uncle bought be the Callaway Diablo HX, which is a very different ball than the HX Tour. It's really halfway in between the Warbird (a circular piece of gravel, as far as I'm concerned) and the HX Tour in terms of softness and feel. I found that I really liked the HX, despite the fact that it's a much harder ball than I'm used to. It seemed like it flew straighter for me, which makes sense because it's a lower spin ball.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a ball that's similar to the Diablo HX? They're a little more expensive than I want for an everyday round and they're getting hard to find anyhow since Callaway changed their ball lineup this year. I'm actually thinking about going back to the Precept Laddie X, which is the first ball I used on a regular basis when I started playing, but I'm not sure I'd really like it that much anymore.

The Hex Diablo is in my opinion one of the best 2 piece and they go for $20 doz. Sounds like a great fit. Like you I also did not like the Hex Hot. Also the Wilson Duo is a good comparable ball also $20/doz.

Wilson also produces a ball called The 50. I have played them recently and they are comparable to most low compression balls on the market but cheaper. They are available at Sports Authority and were on sale for 2 dozen for $24.

Actually I haven't tried any of the Callaway balls since they changed the branding to "HEX" from "HX". I don't know which of the new names used to be the HX Diablo and which used to be the HX Diablo Tour, or if both of those balls are just gone rather than name-changed. I need to find out. The Diablo HX used to be found for $17 to $18, while the HX Tour was $24 to $25. Both of those prices are more than I really want to spend on an everyday golf ball, but I'd consider the $17-18.
