Hi everyone,
I just want to rant a little about ball marks...
Please, please, please fix your ball marks! If you hit that green from 50 yards and out, you most likely are leaving a ball mark somewhere on the green. It takes 5 seconds to fix that mark properly, and you will make the game that much more fun and more importantly, consistent to play for everyone.
Here is a great video of how to do it properly...

Just think of it as a way to take pride in hitting the green and respect for the course you are playing on and for the other players behind you.
Cheers.

Preaching to the choir for most of us. Players who don't fix their marks probably are not into golf blogs or even aware that they are leaving unrepaired pitch marks on the greens.

I love to fix my pitch marks. It makes me feel good about caring for the course, but even better that I actually hit the green from far enough out that I left a mark!
And yes, I will often fix more than my own mark if I see others.

Yeah...for me, fixing a ball mark allows me to swagger a bit.
I recommend the Mark Mender:

It doubles as a cigar holder and a putter rest!

If I happen to make a mark on the green, I fix it. It's such a rare occasion, I'll usually pull out my phone and take a picture to document it first.

I LOVE fixing my ball marks. Just the fact that I have one to fix is very exciting.

I take pride in my repair work. If I'm breaking out the tool I'm usually going to fix more than one. Where I play there are plenty of fresh gaping marks to be fixed, at any time. The green is an organism and I feel bad just leaving the marks unrepaired. By fixing my own and at least one more I feel like I'm making a difference in the world.

I have a bunch of Mark Menders. Have one in stainless, one in aluminum and a few in black plastic. Though they do a great job at repairing pitch marks, especially when the turf is a bit softer, I think I like them most for keeping my putter or wedge grips off the ground when laying them down on wet grass, as you mentioned.

They also make good hair scrunchies.

My biggest pet peeve. It drives me crazy when players don't replace or sand fairway divots, rake traps or repair ball marks on greens. When I speak to golf groups I always end my remarks by saying.
If you can't take the time to repair the damage you are doing to the course please take up swimming. At least the water will fill in the hole when you get out of the pool.Of course you are probably the type that doesn't get out of the pool to pee.

ha, good quote!
ya, that bugs me too, when people take huge fairway divots and don't even bother looking for the grass that they tossed 10 yards... ha, don't even get me started on raking bunkers... nothing worse than playing out of someones foot mark!

You mean there are people who don't get out of the pool to pee? And people wonder why I don't swim....
