Akron, OH quick link: oobgolf.com/groups/Akron+Fire+Hack-a-holics A group of firemen that have no talent, skills, or abilities, but love to play golf. 4 members 90.2 average score 15.5 average handicap mkranek says:Hinckley Hills- the last scheduled travel day of the year. smoothy is mired in a putting slump. although he shot 38 on the front with 2 three putts, he stuggled on the back with 2 doubles to post an 81. Hinman had trouble with his short game with multiple scalds from inside 60 yds. Although he hit the ball fairly well off the tee, he had trouble with his chipping and putting to post a 102. Gutt seemed to struggle early on the front, but seemed to straighten it out by the 5th hole to turn in 51. Gutts score on the back(5-9-x-x-x-x-x-4-x). Gutt was seen racing to his car and declined all post round interviews. well gents i hope you all had a good time in this years travel league. hopefully well get more station 4 guys to play next year. smoothy 9/2/09
mkranek says:seven hills: smoothy once again stuggled with his putting, but was more consistant off the tee. He shot 83 from the blue tees. Hinman seemed to have straightened out his game and shot a very respectable 92 from the blue tees. everyone was treated to a double dose of langston this week. lang posted one of his best rounds of the year in shooting a 94. lang was heard saying " if i ever make it to the show i want smoothy on my bag". gutt once again showed inconsistancy off the tee to shoot a 99. gutt recovered nicely on the 3rd nine and hit some bombs off the tee to shoot a 48 from the blue tees. Dan Noshow-luca was absent. smoothy 8/28/09
mkranek says:Hawks Nest: another beautiful day with some questionable addition. Smoothy had his usual could have been so much better round. 5 putts inside 10 feet and 8 total under 15 feet and he could'nt make any of them. smoothy shot 80. After re-adding the scores for lang, gutt and tim, i found that gutt took a solo second with a 98. With a tough start on the back that looked like a hawaiian zip code (6-9-7-8) he buckled down and salvaged a less than 100 round, basically solidifying his number 2 ranking at station 4. lang and timmy both posted a 99 to tie for 3rd. At least hinman broke 100. langston, obviously distraught after his round , was at least able to walk away with 3rd place in the team bet, pairing with cheatham to win $15. It was good to see langston at the course. Danny, after a miserable round last week, took the day off, thus falling farther behind gutt. hope to see Danny back for the years last day on wed sept. 2nd. smoothy. don't forget golf stag tue. sept. 1st at 8:30 8/25/09
mkranek says:THE QUARRY- ST 4'S LAST MAJOR. On the hottest day of the year, we all wilted. Smoothy, with 3 doubles on the day struggled with green speed and his line to post a 84. Gutt, coming off a personel best round of 78, shot a very respectable 90. If it weren't for a few bad holes on the front, he may have been able to pull a y.e. yang upset over smoothy. Gutt definitely made a statement as number 2 golfer. Danny posted a 101. although hitting 50 % of the fairways, he also drove thru a few which cost him a few strokes. He also lost $24 in golf balls. Alot of penalty stokes for danny. Tim shot a 113. what can you say? Lang was playing in a scramble today and once again earned 0 station 4 ranking points. next week @ hawks nest mon 24th 9:20. smoothy 8/18/09
mkranek says:chippewa: another beautiful day. after hitting 7 fairways on the front, smoothy struggled off the tee on the back, although getting up and down on 17 and 18 for par to salvage his round and shoot a 79. danny, after visiting margarittaville the night before, was a liitle fuzzy and maybe a little hypoglycemic near the end was able to post a 93. his hinge and hold needed a little oiling and was a little wild off the tee. gutt showed moments of brilliance but then a few three putts was his demise. gutt posted a 94. hinman was again dismal with a back 9 55. timmy continues to plummet in the station 4 rankings. for those of you who played chenoweth yesterday, we were all treated to lang showing up to play a whole 9 holes. lang apparently stuggled and posted an abyssmal 53. at least he got a point for showing up. next week @ the quarry, our last major of the year. hope to see all of you there. smoothy 8/12/09
mkranek says:windmill lakes: tough day for all! smoothy struggled to an 82, although it felt like 92. some tree trouble off the tee and a couple of missed greens from inside 100 yds was his bane. gutt was 2nd with a c-note plus one. gutt had a blackjack on the final three holes (7-7-7). hinman and his protege frank slid in with 104 and 105 respectively. hoch, making his 2nd travel league appearance fired a 103 and won first place in the team competition. kudos hocholo. danny should be back next week and langston im sure will have something else going on. next week august 12th @ chippewa. smoothy 8/3/09
mkranek says:chenoweth afd league. finally, a day when more than one hackaholic played. smoothy, with a clean 2 under par front side fired a 72. danny although still struggling with his irons, shot a very respectable 84. gutt, with his first official post baby round, shot 87 with a blistering 23 putts on the front side. gutt was heard mumbling "if i could only ****ing putt". hinman although horrible on the front, salvaged the back to shoot 94. everyone was treated to langston showing up today. although no official score has been posted, rumor has it somewhere in the 50's. langston was seen doing the brncik shoulder slump and apparently doing alot of talking to himself. smoothy 7/28/09
mkranek says:oak shadows: "an then there was one". afd hackaholics: a beautiful day at oak shadows in which i played 27 holes w/o any other station 4 members. hit danny's driver tremendously, esp. on the 3rd nine. shot an 80 on the day, going 5 over the last four holes, still good enough for medalist on the day. tim " i won't work any trades" hinman was working a trade. danny, watched his kids. gutt was with family, frank was working out and langston, well, today wasn't on the schedule. not much to write about today. next round mon. aug. 3rd at windmill lakes. smoothy 7/27/09
mkranek says:the park bites back! on a day when rain threatened, we were able to play 18 holes without a drop. smoothy, with visions of sugar plums and shooting in the 60's, lost his driver on the last 5 holes, was still able to post a 75 on the cusp of 5 birdies. deluca, aka. rightluca was pushing all his drives to the right for the 2nd day in a row. thank goodness for the hinge and hold, which kept him in the game, posted a 92. langston , making his summer debut, promised a sub 90 round. but promises are made to be broken. lang stuggled off the tee and struggled with his direction on his approach shots. lang posted a 97. frankie, after last weeks feel good round, didn't feel so well. frank was all over the place, posting a 102. gutt should be back in the rotation on monday after steph delivered a beautiful little girl. hope the family is doing well! next round mon. at oak shadows 7/22/09
mkranek says:what a difference a day makes. today we played sugarbush from the tips. maybe a little long for us hacks. smoothy struggled off of the tee once again and shot 86. he was a little rattled after the turn because of a near altercation with a threesome that was holding everyone up. gutt once again struggled off of the tee but a nice up and down sand save on 18 and if not for his 9 on #16 (on the green in 2) would have had a spectacular back nine. hinman , was just bad all around, no drives ,no irons, and no putting, stuggled with 100 +. hopefully this round will be forgotten by all. smoothy 7/16/09
tigerlang says:Nice round Krank (yes, i said Krank)...see I'm even thinking about u guys on vacation...ok not really...and the comments below are just wrong! 7/14/09
mkranek says:CONT. FROM PREVIOUS COMMENT. HOPEFULLY PHIL MICHELSONS SHORT GAME TAPE WILL HELP OUT WITH DANNY, IF NOT, SMOOTHY IS WAITING IN THE WINGS. TODAYS FEEL GOOD ROUND GOES OUT TO FRANK LAROCK. FRANKIE POSTED A 94, HIS FIRST ROUND EVER UNDER 100. ALTHOUGH HE WAS IN A FEW DIFFERENT FAIRWAYS, HE KEPT THE BIG NUMBERS DOWN. KUDOS FRANK!! LANGSTON KEEPS FALLING INTO THE ABYSS OF THE STATION 4 RANKINGS. RUMOR HAS IT HE WILL BE PLAYING NEXT WEEK AT THE PARK. UNLESS HE WELCHES OUT ON THE TEE TIME, LIKE HE DID BUYING ICE CREAM FOR THE STATION ON HIS BIRTHDAY. ONLY TIME WILL TELL. SMOOTHY ANYBODY WANT TO PLAY THURS.? 7/13/09
mkranek says:AFD HACK-O-HOLICS. WELCOME TO ANOTHER INSTALLMENT OF SMOOTHIES POST ROUND COMMENTARY. SMOOTHY FINALLY HIT SOME FAIRWAYS AND COUPLED WITH A STELLAR SHORT GAME THAT INCLUDED 6 UP AND DOWNS FOR PAR ON THE BACK SHOT A 74. HINMAN WITH 3 BIRDIES AND A CONSISTENT DAY OFF OF THE TEE SHOT ONE OF HIS BEST ROUNDS OF THE YEAR, CAME IN WITH A 82. GUTT, AFTER A NAIL BITING LOSS TO LITTLE G LAST WEEK, SEEMED TO HAVE FOUND A COMFORT ZONE WITH HIS NEW IRONS ,SHOT A VERY SOLID 87 . DELUCA, HITING THE BALL AS FAR AS ANYBODY OFF THE TEE, ONCE AGAIN STRUGGLED WITH HIS SHORT GAME, POSTING AN 89. 7/13/09
mkranek says:to all afd hack-o-holics. welcome to the first installment of smoothy's post round commentary. today at tamoshanter smoothy shot a very boring 81. he had trouble reading greens and struggled with his inside 100 yd shots. hinman shot a very respectable 87. timmy drove the ball very well and avoided the dreaded 3 putt. Kevin , fresh out of the box with his new Nike irons, struggled to find his distance control and consistancy off of the tee, shot a 96. Little G with a birdie on the front and 3 consecutive pars on the back, snuck in with a 95, albeit from the white tees.I n his post round commentary, Little G was heard saying, "bring on langston". Next post round commentary will be monday after our round at zoar. Smoothy 7/10/09
mkranek says:Langston, 9 holes? It's like kissing your sister. Gutt, you and Lang have to pick a date for the station 4 versus station 8 golf outing, for the final spot to be on the team. 7/2/09
duke358 says:Try to get as many AFD golfers to register on this site and this group so we can see who is playing good golf. 6/27/09
