May 25th Match PT/KB vs. Rog/Swine
This heads-up match was played at Worthington Manor under perfect skies in Fredneck, MD. Rog was a last second fill-in for WOBO who pussied out on Friday due to family pressure and fear of getting into a bigger hole vs. KOBO and BOBO.

The match started as usual for PT and KB as they lost the first 2 holes to Rog, who started off on fire off the tee. After splitting the next few holes, PT and KB ended up taking 2 out of the last 5 holes to win the front 1up.

The biggest swing of the match may have come on #10 as KB made a 10 foot to halve Bobo tap-in birdie. The match was tied on the 18th tee, but Rog and Bryan stuggled and PT tapped in for 5 net 4 to win the match 1up. Bryan carded a miraculous 40 on the back, even though he only hit 1 decent drive... but Rog lost his swing.

Equipment update= PT had his new irons and played well with them on the back. KB switched back to the tried and true Titleist and hit the ball much better, 4 or 6 fairways on the back.

It was a back and forth battle in the War at Winton. In the end, HOBO outlasted GRABO 1 up with a double bogey on the long par 5 18th. Paul opened up strong on #1 with a Par to go 1 up, but the Hound won 3 of the next for to go 2 up after 5. Paul scored a Par on the downhill par 3 to cut into the lead and ended up winning 3 of the final 4 on the front to lead 1up after 9. Paul shot a 45 and Hound shot a 46 on the front. The match swung when Hobo won 3 of the next 5 to take a commanding 2 up lead after 14. The lead was still 2 up heading into 17 when disaster nearly struck. Hound had an 18 inch putt to secure a half and a 2 & 1 win, but missed is with a horrible stroke. The battle continued shot for shot down 18, and ended with a half, securing the 1 up win.
This firmly secured HOBOs place as the #4 golfer in the Hokie Hacks World Golf rankings.

Both players were terrible off of the tee all day with only 4 fairways hit, but both grinded and scrapped to decent scores.

Recap from 6/8/08 Bryan/KB vs. Wink/PT at Raspberry Falls

In 95 degree temps that felt like 105 at times the all time match play record between the Regulars is all knotted up at 6 points each. 2007 was dominated by Bobo and Kobo, with a swing in the exact opposite direction in 2008.
This match was played at Raspberry Falls on a late Sunday afternoon. The match had little in the way of bizarre or memorable moments, but the story was most likely the solid play of PTG who had low net and carried home an overall victory on the back 9 after the team got out to an early 2 up lead on #10. He par'd 3 of the last 6 holes to hold off a charging Swinehart who deserves to lose again after wearing a ridiculous Superman belt. Swizzie played well, Kobo and Wink were mediocre at best. PTG got 12 strokes and the bad guys were already asking for that to be reduced next round.
Next up: July 12th at MD Natl.

Recap from 6/15/08 KB/PT vs. Wink/Chen match at Twin Lakes PT+8shots Chen+18

Wink filled in at the last second for an injured Mike Grace at PT's home course, Twin Lakes. Matt and KB would play the Blue tees from 6700 yards, while Pt/Chen played the white tees at 6300. The wind would also be a factor, as it was gusting up to 15mph. Chen was playing for the first time in a year and Wink expected a to have a tough challenge ahead with little help from Chen. But after PT/KB won the first hole, Chen and Matt ham&egged their way to a big lead. Chen had 3 natural pars for hole wins, but double-parred 8 of the other holes.

PT/KB went down 4 holes through 12, but made a strong comeback winning 4 of the last 6 holes to square the match on the 18th hole for the first tie match in Hokie Hacks history.

7/12 -Another match at Maryland National, and another questionable rule violation by Team KoBo/Bobo. Fortunately it did not factor in to the outcome. Kenny won the the first 2 holes and they would be the only holes they would win until 15 as Wink/PT would win 3 and 2. Kenny played great and Swizzie would shoot 38 with an Eagle on the back but the ham and egg show was too much. PT's net 83, and Wink's 83 were outdone by the dual 82's, however they were ill timed and the 7-7 tie in the career matchplay series was broken.
Ask Swiziie to address his rule violation.

7/13 - In an alcohol induced decision a last minute re-match was scheduled for the played the morning after the Swizzie surprise 40th Birthday Party. The site Greencastle Golf Club. Here is the formula for this one. Alcohol, no sleep, no range balls, playing from the tips (6900 yards)and high temps = bad golf. Bryan, and Kenny shot 99 and PT shot 107. I wound up shooting 83 and PT/Wink took an early 5 up lead through 8. End of story. No controversy. Lots of "Are you kidding me's" Greencastle played harder than was expected.

8/31: GRABO vs. HOBO - a tale of two nines....

HOBO pounced on GRABO immediately winning 3 of the 4 first holes with a par and two bogeys. GRABO was able to get the match to 2 down after 9 holes. HOBO had a very solid front 9 carding 7 5's.
GRABO came storming back on the back 9 with a great display of accurate and long driving. GRABO took 11 and 13 to square the match and gain momentum. GRABO then won the long par 3 15th with a bogey.
But HOBO would NOT relent on this afternoon. HOBO played a BRILLIANT second shot on the par 5 18th and managed an extremely valuable GIR. GRABO misse the green with his approach but hit a nice chip to about 5 feet. GRABO missed the fairly straight downhill put for par opening the door for HOBO to square the match. HOBO confidently drained a 2 ft par putt to square the overall match.

Today was alot of fun... although the match ended all square, Paul was the better, more consistant golfer. Fantasict round for Grabo. Congrats. If it werent for a good putting stroke by me on the front, It may have been a blowout.
