ok :) Majority rules! lol. I went ahead and added in their July scores. I'm not going to track any new member scores until the Oct tourney starts. I've posted the July & August final stats on the webpage (www.rivercityhackers.com). Here's a quick overview:

Once you get to the website, click on the link in the menu to see all of the stats. If you see something wrong, let me know and I'll fix it. I'll update everything to include the Sept rounds played to date after I play my own round tomorrow :)

Question: We had two members join a week after the 7/31 cut off, Twouponetoplay and JennMac. Nobody else has joine since. I was thinking since they were interested enough to join, that I should factor in their July stats so they have a chance. Any objections? It really won't change the ranking by that much and probably wouldn't affect the top 10. Anyone else that joins I don't plan on keeping track of their stats until the next tourney starts. What do you think?

sorry, had to buy a new computer, load all my stuff on it, sent two of my kids away to college in Hawaii, and had to unexpectedly go out of town on business a few days. Just now starting to get my act together. Will probably be this weekend before I can update all the stats and such. Still alive, just buried with crap :)

sorry I'm slacking on the leaderboard. Sending two of my kids away to college on Friday, and my main computer took a crap and I lost almost everything. Wife is leaving with the kids on Friday so it will be just me and the youngest so I should have time to get it caught up.

Matt, that's a good idea. I should have thought of that. It's too late on this one as I'd have to go back through all of the stats and start over and I'm too lazy for that :) I will do it for the next one though!

I looked through the comments and didn't see anything about this suggestion.

I feel like "best differential" is a more accurate statistic than "Best gross score." I could shoot 72 on a course with a rating of 67. And you could should 75 on a course with a rating of 74.1. Who really had the better round?

Meh, I know that's a hell of a lot of work for you haha.

just curious.... Although we are using a separate Leaderboard for our tournament than what's shown on the right on this group page, the leaderboard on the right can be changed if you guys want. Let me know if you have a preference. The options are:

1. Fair Score (how it is now)
2. Gross score to par
3. Net score to par
4. Gross Score
5. Net Score

Also, the Leaderboards on the left can be changed to weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly. If anyone wants a change, post it here.

ok, one of our new members apparently only plays a par 69 course. Since that's pretty close, we'll change what I said below to include par 69's and above but will adjust to par 72, so his gross/net scores will have 3 strokes added on to even it out. Anything below a 69 I think would be too much of a stretch....sorry for all the posts....

Please feel free to check your point totals and point out if I screwed up. Just post something here and I will fix it. Remember, the scores are adjusted to a par 72 course, so if you gross on a par 70 was 90, it's going to show as a 72 on the stats. Only 18 hole rounds count. Each month's scores are added to the preceeding score, so everyone still has a chance if you post one good round. Any questions, put them here. The stats are at www.rivercityhackers.com - click on the menu item - you'll see it.

technically you would just need one round per month if that's all you can do. I would just take the net and gross from that one round and use it for that month. I'll try to put something together on it this weekend with everything spelled out.

I've also initiated a club on www.myscorecard.com under the name of JaliscoGolf so anyone can establish an official USGA Handicap Index. It's open to everyone, so come join.

ok, kidputter seems to have disappeared. hopefully he's ok. I'll start a new tournament that will last from July to September. Gonna be simple. I will rank you using your best gross score and your best net score for each month. Lowest gross and net scores for each month will be ranked 1st through 33. If you have the best gross score, you'll get 33 points, same with net. worst score will get 1 point. Ties will get same number of points, but score below the tie will be adjusted for whatever place you're in. Since it's a 3 month tournament, basically your best 3 scores in net, and best 3 in gross. The true leaderboard is on the website (see above). The leaderboard on oob doesn't take into consideration all of the bonus points you get for FIRs, etc. (bonus points change every tournament depending on how it's set up)

I notice I've played three times since 3/14, and I see only one score an any of these boards. Had two rounds on vacation in Floriuda at Buckhorn Springs. Not good rounds, mind you, but I'm trying to get my four in before the end of the month.

TeT, thanks for asking that. That what I need. I considered taking lessons when I first picked up golf. Had a friend tell me to just go play. Well I have been playing and satisfied with my progress. But you are right, i need to practice what I preach. I coach girls softball and tell them to play all out and you can still have fun. I need to take it up a notch if I want to be competitive in these tournaments. Dont get me wrong, I had a blast this weekend. My first one and wanted to see how everything operated. I will be playing a tournament in 3 weeks, hope to get a lesson before.

GOTRO: Have you had a lesson yet? I see you have 30 rounds recorded, While it is still early in the season; go get a lesson or 3 (3 is good). Go find an old pro who will work with what you are bringing and not try to remake you into Bubba Watson. Take time betwixt the lessons for at least 1 round and some range time....
