Isla de Navidad in Barre de Navidad on Costa Alegra between Manzanillo and Puerto Vallarta. This course was built to attract world class golfers and has some magnificent ocean view holes. It is a difficult but fair course. I usually stay away from the inland water portion of the course.

We will stay at the Grand Bay Hotel when we go to play Isla de Navidad. It is an excellent hotel (Wyndham) across the bay from the golf course. This hotel is a wonderful experience complete with fine dining, all possible activities, a full massage and beauty centre and a very pretty setting with several well kept swimming pools.

I just had an idea...but it's missing one key component. I could set up the tournament using "flights" based on handicaps and using differentials for the points. But I'd like to still have an overall winner, maybe using the top players in each flight, but not sure how to compute points for the overall winner. Any ideas? I'll post this in the forums also since some of you might not read the posts here..

I think Oobs "Fair Score" would probably be better (see: www.oobgolf.com/content/help/1-1968-Fair_Score.h The problem with Fair Score is that it changes everytime your handicap changes and that would create a problem tracking it (i.e. it's always changing. You could have a fair score of 2.8, and a week later that same round changes to 1.9 or something - I think)

Any ideas? I'll try to come up with something creative, but I'll take any input you might have.

It basically is the difference between your ESC Score and that of a scratch golfer on the same course. I may be reading it wrong, but it seems like using this for our tournament would give the better players an advantage since they play closer to a scratch golfer than the guy with a 20 handicap???

Leaderboard: I don't understand some of the settings, but what ever settings most closely reflect the "real' leader board gets my vote.

Regarding the oob leader board, I prefer to see it setup to reflect the average for multiple scores. This shows who's playing the best golf on average on not just one round. I wouldn't be mad if you didn't change it though; it's not that big of a deal for me as I'd never make the leaderboard regardless.

Thx for setting up KV! Current settings are fine, imo. Fun to look at the leaderboard and compare your stats to others. A column for playable (in addn to FW Hit) might be good?

Need some input. The leaderboard to the right is different than what the "real" leaderboard is for our monthly tournament, BUT, some of you may want the one here on Oob set up a different way. Here are the options the site gives us, so let me know what you would prefer:

Leaderboard Rollover: Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly - currently set to monthly

Default Rank: USGA Differential, Fair Score, Gross Score to Par, Net Score to Par, Gross Score, Net Score. Currently set to USGA Differential, but not sure if it's working.

Multiple Scores: Show All, First, Last, Average, Best, Worst. Currently set to Show All

Nine Hole Scores: Double the Score, Ignore 9 Hole, Only 9 Hole. Currently set to Ignore 9 Hole

Ok, been slacking again. Will try and get up to date stats by this weekend. Welcome to the new members who just joined brooks.gentle and Ben.Racoma. I'm think we are going to use a suggestion from Matt Otskey for the Oct-Nov tourney and use best differential for each month as the main scoring stat. Depending on how tough it is to keep track of, I might throw in some "bonus" points you can earn on top of your base score. Something like you get a bonus point for hitting more than 50% fairways, more than 50% GIRs, and less than 2 avg putts. Maybe. If anyone has any better ideas, post them so we can figure it out before the 1st of October

ok :) Majority rules! lol. I went ahead and added in their July scores. I'm not going to track any new member scores until the Oct tourney starts. I've posted the July & August final stats on the webpage (www.rivercityhackers.com). Here's a quick overview:

Once you get to the website, click on the link in the menu to see all of the stats. If you see something wrong, let me know and I'll fix it. I'll update everything to include the Sept rounds played to date after I play my own round tomorrow :)

Question: We had two members join a week after the 7/31 cut off, Twouponetoplay and JennMac. Nobody else has joine since. I was thinking since they were interested enough to join, that I should factor in their July stats so they have a chance. Any objections? It really won't change the ranking by that much and probably wouldn't affect the top 10. Anyone else that joins I don't plan on keeping track of their stats until the next tourney starts. What do you think?

just curious.... Although we are using a separate Leaderboard for our tournament than what's shown on the right on this group page, the leaderboard on the right can be changed if you guys want. Let me know if you have a preference. The options are:

1. Fair Score (how it is now)
2. Gross score to par
3. Net score to par

5. Net Score

Also, the Leaderboards on the left can be changed to weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly. If anyone wants a change, post it here.

Since that's pretty close, we'll change what I said below to include par 69's and above but will adjust to par 72, so his gross/net scores will have 3 strokes added on to even it out. Anything below a 69 I think would be too much of a stretch....sorry for all the posts....

Please feel free to check your point totals and point out if I screwed up. Just post something here and I will fix it. Remember, the scores are adjusted to a par 72 course, so if you gross on a par 70 was 90, it's going to show as a 72 on the stats. Only 18 hole rounds count. Each month's scores are added to the preceeding score, so everyone still has a chance if you post one good round. Any questions, put them here.
