In October, we will be playing at Indian Ridge in Oxford and we will be returning to play Walden Ponds one more time to close out our season. We had an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day for golf this afternoon and nine players showed up to try to tame the tough Walden Ponds layout. The average score was 107, but despite the high scores we managed to finish our round in a very respectable 5- 5 1/4 hour timeframe. I would like to personally thank everyone who played today for keeping the pace- it made for a very enjoyable day for all!

We had $90 in SWOGA credits up for grabs today and 7 of the 9 players who participated ended up winning a contest prize. To say the least, this was one of our more competitive rounds we have seen. Leading the pack today was Brett Becker who once again posted a very respectable round. Brett fired an 80 and finished the back nine ONE OVER PAR! Despite the great round, Brett only managed to bag one outright skin but he picked up two CTP's and ended up earning $16.25 in SWOGA credits. The biggest surprise of the day was Bobby Busby's 109. Bobby bagged his first two skins of the year and took home $14 worth of credits!

Brett Becker, another rookie to the Tour, took home half the SWOGA credits last week at Crooked Tree. Brett fired a very respectable 36 on the back to take home half of the credits that were on the table. This is the second week in a row that a Tour rookie has taken the biggest chunk of the pool so this proves that you do not need to be a grizzled veteran to win in SWOGA- Just ask Brett or John!

SWOGA returns to Walden Ponds in Fairfield Township on Sunday June 12th at 1PM. Once again, the event cost is a very reasonable $35 for 18, a cart and a $10 per player SWOGA credit pool. If you missed walden Ponds on Memorial Day Monday you missed a great event. 14 Members battled over $140 in SWOGA credits and our BIG winner was John Cullen. Mr. Cullen shagged two outright skins, two CTP's and also won the Olympian contest which rewards excellent short game play. For his great round, John won $56.50 in SWOGA credits- more than enough to pay for his next round of golf!

WOW!
What a storm we ended up walking into yesterday! Four holes into our round at Crooked Tree it started thundering and raining moderately. Looking at the sky, we figured it was just a passing thunderstorm- no big deal right?
WRONG!!!!
After figuring out that this storm was sticking around longer than we first anticipated, we started back for clubhouse and the skies REALLY opened up- Over 10 minutes of pea sized hail and a torrential downpour that closed the course for the rest of the afternoon- After all, how can one putt on a green covered with pea sized hailstones? I played through the remnants of Hurricane Ike several years ago but that was MILD compared to what we saw yesterday. Lets hope we have better weather at Walden Ponds- I am STILL trying to dry out!

Had a beautiful day to play yesterday at Deer Run Country Club. It was everyones first time out this year and the scores reflected that fact but we all had fun. The top winner yesterday was Mike Nolan who walked away with $17 of the $40 of SWOGA credits that were on the line. Mike claimed 5 Skins, won 1 CTP contest and won our newest side game "The Olympian" which rewards excellent short game play. Tim Haverkos managed to claim a $13 Credit with 1 CTP and 5 skins with excellent play on the back 9 while Co-Founder Rob Tobergta claimed $6 in SWOGA credits the hard way by winning 1 CTP, 1 Long Drive and 1 skin!

Just finished purchasing 12 passes for 18 holes at Clearcreek TPC up in Franklin. It's a little 18 hole Par 3 layout that we will use to host our 18 Hole Closest To The Pin Tournament that may be the BEST value tournament that we will have all year. For only $20 a player, 12 members will play for $180 worth of SWOGA credits that can be used in future SWOGA tournaments!

Can't beat this deal with a stick and Clearcreek TPC has a great variety of Par 3 holes to challenge your iron skills and your short game. It should make for a GREAT event!
